Hit the Playlist - Vietnamese Songs

Any Vietnamese fans out there? I'd like to share 2 Vietnamese songs that has been playing on my playlist:

Minh Yeu Dau Di by Bich Phuong

A rough English translation of the song is "Let's Love Each Other". This is such a sweet song!! Haha I love how the guy in here is portrayed as Doraemon, so cute!

Cover by LEG

I really like this guy's voice and I also like how he remixes all his covers by adding a nice touch of pop music.

Anh Khong Doi Qua by Karik & Only C

Translation of title, "I don't want the gifts back". The MV starts off with a breakup and how the guy asked the girl to give back the gifts he gave her. As for the song, it's basically about a poor guy who says that he loves her and won't ask her to give back the gifts he'll give her.

Anyways, the song is very catchy and humorous. I especially like the rap part. Haha Vietnamese rap comes in a variety of style I believe, but the one in the MV is the kind I like because it's funny.

MV Remake by BB&BG

While the music in the MV above is the official music, the MV is a remake by BB&BG. While the idea is the same as the original MV, I like theirs better because of the humorous touches near the end. It is pretty funny haha

BB&BG also did an MV remake of "Minh Yeu Dau Di". It is also funny but it is not as good cause the humour did feel forced. I don't really find guys dressing up as girls that funny, sometime it works, other times not. The best thing about it though is the sandalls that the guy wore. Haha my dad bought the same kind in Vietnam, but of course, it was just a normal one without the fancy laces that they added xD I found it so funny how they 'upgraded' those sandalls.

What's UP? I'm alive...

Anybody feel like re-watching Up? I do :P

OH MY GOD! When was the last time I touched this blog?!! I miss 'TVB Horizon' so much!!! *cyber hugs* *tears* As many of you university students should know, exams are going on and I am just drowning under all of this stress! Man, first year of university went by with flying colors but so far, my second year have been so dang depressing T-T Let's hope third year won't be a repeat of this year or else I won't be able to handle it anymore!

Anyways, just wanted to drop a short message here. I should be alive and blogging after the 12th, or at least lets be optimistic and hope that happens. I have SO MUCH to say!! Can't wait for winter break to come!!! Q.Q

On a random note, it's almost midnight here but I am suddenly craving poutine *-* Hmm...that or sushi, both are good.

Happy 2013 Mid-Autumn!!

Since I was having a hard time trying to compose a post about mid-autumn, I decided to look back at my old posts. This is the time for some reflection work...haha

It feels really strange.  My writing have definitely changed and more so, I can tell that I really enjoyed blogging back then from reading them.  How in the world can I get that drive back? OTL

Anyways, happy mid-autumn everybody!!!  Pls enjoy gazing at the beautiful round moon! :)

---------------OLD post back in 2009, unedited------------------

Ok, I remember it was quite awhile ago (august) that I walked into a supermarket (T&T) and I saw the workers putting up many lanterns. At that time, I was really confused because I thought New Year wasn't coming until January!!!!! :galit: Haha, it was funny how stupid I felt when my mom told me it actually the Mid-Autumn Festivals. Yup! I mistook the Mid-Autumn Festival for New Year :sigh:

Anyway! I always thought that I'd do a special post for the holiday^^ Of course I couldn't know much since I don't actually know the DATE for it >< Until summer@Just TVB Artist told me it was on October 3rd!!! Why I like it???? Hmm....I dont' actually celebrate this holiday....well only a little I guess, since my mom always buy mooncakes, but then I don't like it :anongnangyari: Haha, I just like the designs on it xD It's so detailed^^ But besides the mooncakes.......the first thing that pops into my head are LANTERNS!!!!!
-------------------------------------

Lanterns
I remember the first time I began how beautiful the lanterns were was in Lost in the Chamber of Love starring Ron, Myolie, Michelle, and Kenneth. The scene that made the lanterns memorable was how Ron decorated the whole city/street with lanterns to stop Myolie from leaving. That part was soooo sweet xD

Haha, since then I've always love the lanterns^^ They reminds me of christmas lights too, but sometimes much more beautiful! When I was searching on google image for some pics, I saw lots of pics for the festival, and I really wish I could go to one, one day xD
-------------------------------------
Mooncake
History: During the Yuen Dynasty, China was ruled my the mongolians. The people of the previous dynasty (Sung) wanted a rebellion and during that time, the Mid-Autumn Festival was coming. They then decided to plan their rebellion by making these special cakes where they put messages of the attack inside. On that night, the rebellion was successful............so from that day on, mooncakes were traditional eaten during the festival.
As I've mentioned above, I'm not a big fan of mooncakes, but when I was searching for some pics........I found some pretty interesting designs for them xD Haha, my favourite one would be the Hello Kitty one, it just looks so cute xD

Beside finding the unknown designs for the mooncakes which I've never seen before in my life, I also found out something about Starbucks. In china, some Starbucks places makes their on mooncakes of the Mid-Autumn festival too!!!! See the designs on it, it says "Starbucks Coffee" ---->

Haha, now.....let's think of what's the first think that pops up into your head (about tvb) when it comes to mooncake................Hmm................MOONLIGHT RENOSANCE!!!!!!

I guess everybody knows about the most anticipated series back in 2008^^ This series has the mooncake theme, when it's prequel had the abalone theme. I like how they named the children as a word for the mid-autumn quote, it's quite meaningful. Suppose to be full of happiness, but of course didn't, but anyway...........I think in Moonlight, the Mid-Autumn Festival represents their family day and the mooncake is their symbol for happiness.
-------------------------------------
The Legend
Do you usually see a woman on the cover of when you buy mooncakes?? (think only some covers but not all^^) According to a legend, that lady is Chang'e. She's the wife of the man who shot down 9 out of 10 suns. (familiar??) She's actually a mortal, but after drinking an elixir, her body bacame lighter and lighter and she floated all the way to the moon. Since she drank the elixir, she was immortal and never died, but instead lives on the moon all alone for eternity.

(left:Chang'e right:Wayne Lai)
Hmmm.....I'm thinking this story's somehow familiar??? Hehe, it's because it was portrayed into a part of a tvb series before, Journey to the West 1/2. Remember Wayne Lai who portrayed the pig, he fell in love with one of the fairy in heaven, and that's why he was sent to earth. The person who he fell in love with is Chang'e. Of course the 'tvb' story wasn't the same as the legend (duh!) ....but still kept the part where her husband's the guy who shot down the 9 suns.
-------------------------------------

Final Words
Ok, wishes to all of you guys a happy Mid-Autumn festival!!! See ya! Hehe, gonna be at my friend's again tomorrow xD
Good Night^^

Happy Valentines? ft Benjamin Yuen and Sire Ma

Well, the holiday passed by already but I'm using it as an excuse to post these sweet photos of Benjamin Yuen and Sire Ma!  Hehe I never knew that they shot a wedding ad together before.  Would love to see them pair up one day? ;)

Hmm...hope everybody had a nice Valentines?  Mine was great cause I didn't have school :P  Slept in and ate.  Afterwards, I slept some more.  Oh!  If you've seen me on twitter, I also decorated my new bulletin board!  I'm very proud because it represents one of those moments where I did something productive, other than sleeping, during the holidays.  Haha hope you guys had a more eventful holiday?

If I'm granted one wish right now, I'd wish that my holidays can be extended.  I'm not ready for the midterms yet.  Yikes!

Happy (Late) Mid-Autumn Festival!!!

Every year, I would go around leaving messages on other blogs when a holiday like this comes around....but I got busy this year :P  haha, so kinda late....anyways, I hope that everybody had a great Mid-Autumn Festival!

Eh...mine was good, except for the fact that I had two mid terms the day after...so wasn't able to stay up late or even study D:  Haha when I woke up that morning though...the sky was still pitch black, and the moon was still glowing ;)  It was beautiful!!  So round and bright :D  Looking at it reminded me of Linda singing "The Moon Represents My Heart" in Witness Insecurity...so I started humming the song while waiting for the bus :P

Too bad the sun soon came out, so the moon kinda disappeared....but guess what, sunrise!!!  And what did that remind me off?  Hmm...have I ever talked about how I came up with the name, "Tvb Horizon"?  I initially wanted to include "Sunset" in my blog's name...because I love seeing the sunset :D  But then that didn't sound right....so what's the opposite of sunset?  Sunrise!  But of course, that didn't sound right either....so I chose "Horizon" because...it's basically both of those.  Just looking out towards the horizon.....which stretches far and wide, with an unlimited number of possibilities.  I don't want to focus my blog entirely on one thing...such as news, or reviews....but with a little bit of everything, which resulted in my messiness haha.  I post what I feel like posting, so things do get a bit scattered and disorganize :P  I don't know if that is a good thing or not...but I'm having fun! :D

OHHHHHH I tend to post something about Mid-Autumn with tvb re-lated subjects, but this year...I kinda ran out of ideas :P  BUT luckily, tvb released some of these "special" mooncakes advertisements!  IF you haven't watch it yet...watch it because they're hilarious :P  haha.

Ok...guilty is charge.  I only have the ones of Linda in it :P  If it didn't have her...I didn't download.  haha.  for those who doesn't know chinese, there are english translations over at Linda Chung Thoughts :)

My favourite one is of Ji Lam (Linda) crying over the mooncakes, that her uncle ate :P  lols so funny how she got so emotional over mooncakes ;)  hehe...

This is the "ending" for the commercial....if only the series had this happy ending...

What's Up?

1 - I am officially back in school!  Yay!  Haha why?  It's because it's my first year here and I'm really excited to explore this new school :)  I admit I am abit overwhelmed at the moment though.  Everything is just so....different.  New people, new environment and therefore new challenges.  So let's see how things will unfold in the next few weeks!

2 - AE-Experience.  I am sure that you guys have heard of this site and if you haven't, well let me tell you :)  AE stands for Asian Entertainment.  If you've visited TVB Interaction before, you would probably know it's talented webmistress, Iris.  She and her friend, Niki, opened AE-Experience awhile back.  It's not a website just for tvb fans, but for fans of k-pop, k-drama and c-pop as well.  Beside Iris and Niki, there are also a number of other contributors on the site. The list includes me.  Hehe I just recently joined the crew!  Besides the reviews that you guys can see here, I will also be posting my thoughts outside of tvb at AE-Experience, that won't be on TVB Horizon (such as k-pop stuff etc).  AE-Experience is very interesting site and if you have not check it out yet, please do :)  Thank you!

3 - Graphics Requests are still going on if you want a banner or something :)  And to those who had requested, I finished all the of them and they can be found here: http://tvb-horizon.blogspot.ca/2012/08/graphics-requests.html#comment-form

4 - Ongoing Polls on the sidebar.  It may seem like awhile until September ends, but time do tend to fly by much faster than we think!  So if you have not voted yet, please do :D

5 - So now some questions for you guys.  How is everybody doing?  Enjoying the recent tvb dramas?  Drowning in homework?  :D

Canada Day

Shared an amazing time with all my friends and family!!!!!!!! :D Will totally upload the fireworks video tomorrow ;)

Partir, c'est mourir un peu...PART 2

From my previous part on this, everybody probably knows what the title means already...

Even though I personally don't like French that much because I really don't have much interest in the language itself, I really admire my french teacher.  Unfortunately yesterday, she told us that she had to leave for the rest of our school year due to family issues.  Even our commencement did not give me such a powerful feeling compared to what she told us.  Why?  Because the day after commencement, we went right back to school...so that special feeling was not there (a ceremony to say we graduated, only to be back at school the next day...that just don't work).  *sigh* anyways, at the end of class...everybody surrounded my french teacher to give her the good bye hug and all of us teared up.  Haha...it's so funny how once someone cry, the others would not be able to hold in their tears.  This is the truly the moment of realization...to not see her again after that day made me realize..the same thing would happen to all of my other teachers and friends.  Scary isn't it?  Even writing this post, I'm tearing up...pathetic :P  I honestly don't know how I would handle the last day of school...this is just painful to even think about.  Only two and a half weeks left...

Lols sorry for all these recent posts that have absolutely nothing to do with tvb.  Haha...things are just getting a bit emotional with graduating...and I wanted to keep a memory of it.

Partir, c'est mourir un peu...

Why the heck is the title in french? And if you don't know french, what in the world does it mean?

In french class, our teacher told us "Partir, c'est mourir un peu." What does it mean? It means, "To leave, it is to die a little."

After five years, we are finally graduating and to be honest, it's a good breather to get away from the place you've been at for so long. On the other hand, I have to admit I will miss the usual daily life with my friends and teachers. Leaving can be both good and bad...but either way, it still hurts a little. Once we take our steps out of the building, that had entrapped us for these five years, in June, there will be excitement, sense of freedom and the "yes!! I'll never have to come back here again!!". But when we look back, I know I will miss the fun times in class, the friends and the teachers and a little of myself, that I would leave behind with the highschool memories.

Commencement. A ceremony where we were all handed our diploma to recognize our graduation. The word "commencer" in french? It means "to start". So the word commencement originated from the french word, commencer. Though this event may mark the end of my highschool years, it's not really the end but truly a new beginning...

Random Pics of the Youth Exchange

Haha remember the post I had about the youth exchange?? Here are some pics of some of the places we went too ;) I was going to upload the video of the shark, turtle and dolphin but....I have to start on my bio homework right now (procrastinated) so I'll edit this post later ;)

Stories:
I am extremely afraid of heights but I had to walk across the suspension bridge. Surprisingly it wasn't that bad....only when I was just half way across, my friend starting jumping and shaking the bridge -.- And he KNOWS that I am afraid of heights too. My friends just all laughed along....xD

Winnie Pooh stuck on a tree....don't ask me how it got there, cause I have no idea xP

At the aquarium...my favourite is the giant turtle!!! Omg I was staring at it for more than 10 mins xD And the jellyfishes are real...not a screensaver xP

Good Bye...

It's been more than a week but now I'm back ;) *sigh* the group of exchange students from Toronto have gone home and I miss them alot! Even though I've only spent a week with them, we got closer than the people who I've spent 4 years of high school together! They were all so sweet and funny. Though we have each other on facebook....it won't be the same. I can no longer hear them laugh...and they won't be able to make fun of me, and we can't go to Tim Hortons. Yesterday, while taking the bus back from the airport, we stopped at the bus stop near DQ and Tim Hortons....(the place where we all took the bus each morning during that week), I suddenly started to cry. Gosh, I felt so stupid at that moment. It was actually heart-breaking to see them at the airport, but what hurts the most was waking up the next morning....realizing that I can no longer see them. But i definitely do not regret taking of the week of school for them because they taught all taught me something very valuable. Next year, I'm definitely going to go on the exchange and I will be able to see them again! =)

CAmping Photos ANd CHibis........HIATUS

PhotobucketPhotobucket

I will be gone this weekend.......I know...again =( Every year, there's that time of exams. Mines are coming around the third week of June and again on the 25th. I'm thinking I won't be posting for the next few weeks until my exams are over. Unless there's something I really have to talk about......like MOL (hehe.....got the first few eps for it!!)
So I apologize, TVB Horizon will go on its first HIATUS until at least the 25th of June.
(Beside the anniversary post on June 18th and maybe some temptations to post...)

Surprisingly, TVB Horizon's anniversary is on June 18!!! Haha, first anniversary for TVB Horizon =) Hopefully I'm going to be having a post for that. It's probably just about what I've done so far and all that stuff xD

Thanks for hearing me out! And here are the pics from the camp I went to last weekend!! Only pics of me cause I'm not so sure if my class wanted to be up here xD Haha, took me awhile to decide if I whould put them up since this is a tvb blog.......not really my personal =/ But one post won't hurt^^

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Haha, I was sticking my tongue out at my friend :P It's actually my favourite pic though xD

Camping was extremely fun and I wished that we could've stayed longer. It was a wonderful experience (especially the hike!). First, we set up our tent with a rock in the rain lols. Then we had a camp fire. On the second day, we went on our hike......which was just up, up, up. While doing it, I just wish that we'd stop but after I've done it, it wasn't so bad after all. I actually loved the hike very much =) So many trees.

Lols we were eating lunch on the mountain top and was getting ready to go back down again. We separated into 2 group, the slow one and the fast one :P Haha, I was in the slow one, and for the first 30 secs that we started to go back down............we took the wrong path ^^: Sad but true......only 30 secs but we got lost. Going back down was so much easier than going up! I was so happy we made back safely :P beside the bruise that I got on my leg cause I hit a tree xD

The rest of the day was great cause we got to eat more marshmallows^^ But then we played this 'brain' game......I could not get it =( The at night, it started pouring!! The rain was so hard. The next morning, many of my classmates tents got soaked! Haha, I wasn't though xD Anyways, it was so sad to leave.....I really want to go back there again (with my class). And now even sadder that the year is going to end so soon.......One of those happy but also sad moments.

Haha, thanks for taking the time to read this post^-^ I won't be posting much until my exams end. Bye =)
