[Where is She?] Maggie Wong

Foreverlovetvb and I were just talking about the good old tvb days when Maggie Wong arised in our conversation.  Who is she?  She's one of the most talented child actor tvb had back then haha.  My favourite series of her is Perish in the Name of Love, where she played as Charmaine's Sheh younger version.  I've written a post of her HERE.

So...we were just wondering how she's doing since she left tvb.  Apparently she's with CTI now?  o.O  If that is true...I would be so happy because that will mean I can see her back onscreen again!  Hehe was really curious about her, so I decided to stalk her using google.  Guess what I found?  Her weibo account!  Mwahaha. http://www.weibo.com/u/1816618371?from=otherprofile&wvr=3.6&loc=infweihao

Wow...seeing her recent pictures, she've really grown up!  (I feel weird saying that since I am still younger than her.)  I couldn't recognize her for a minute there.  It's weird, there are some photos that I can see the resemblance to her younger days but there are some that I just can't!  Hmm...I think if she have her hair straight down, I can recognize her.  But if she style it any other way, I can't...so weird o.O

***on a random note, I think that she really resemble Linda Chung in some photos (not all).  I think it's her smile :)  They both cast of such a sweet feeling.

What's Up?

1 - I am officially back in school!  Yay!  Haha why?  It's because it's my first year here and I'm really excited to explore this new school :)  I admit I am abit overwhelmed at the moment though.  Everything is just so....different.  New people, new environment and therefore new challenges.  So let's see how things will unfold in the next few weeks!

2 - AE-Experience.  I am sure that you guys have heard of this site and if you haven't, well let me tell you :)  AE stands for Asian Entertainment.  If you've visited TVB Interaction before, you would probably know it's talented webmistress, Iris.  She and her friend, Niki, opened AE-Experience awhile back.  It's not a website just for tvb fans, but for fans of k-pop, k-drama and c-pop as well.  Beside Iris and Niki, there are also a number of other contributors on the site. The list includes me.  Hehe I just recently joined the crew!  Besides the reviews that you guys can see here, I will also be posting my thoughts outside of tvb at AE-Experience, that won't be on TVB Horizon (such as k-pop stuff etc).  AE-Experience is very interesting site and if you have not check it out yet, please do :)  Thank you!

3 - Graphics Requests are still going on if you want a banner or something :)  And to those who had requested, I finished all the of them and they can be found here: http://tvb-horizon.blogspot.ca/2012/08/graphics-requests.html#comment-form

4 - Ongoing Polls on the sidebar.  It may seem like awhile until September ends, but time do tend to fly by much faster than we think!  So if you have not voted yet, please do :D

5 - So now some questions for you guys.  How is everybody doing?  Enjoying the recent tvb dramas?  Drowning in homework?  :D

Ghetto Justice 2 Overview

After releasing from jail, LAW LIK-AH (Kevin Cheng) wants to start anew and he joins hand with his comrade WONG SZ-FU (Myolie Wu) to fight against injustice.

LIK-AH and SZ-FU soon become the “Condor Heroes” of Sham Shui Po but they have conflicting views on things all the time. To make the situation worse, LIK-AH’s ex-wife KING LING-LEI (Christine Kuo) suddenly returns from the USA and the relationship is put to the test. Meanwhile, they have offended the wealthy property developer by handling a building collapse case and LIK-AH’s life is in danger. Even his good friend TING KA-FU (Sam Lee), GEORGE MIKE JR. (Lam Chi Sin) and the newly-arrived policeman LEUNG PAU-SING (Raymond Cho) are embroiled in the legal battle. Will they be able to fight for the disadvantaged people with law in the end? -credits ktvb

Thoughts:

Compared to Ghetto Justice, Ghetto Justice 2 lacked strong cases and a sense of "focus". But while I may find their cases weak, I still enjoyed the overall series because of the characters and the cast's chemistry.

- Lack of focus: I felt that the series was everywhere, moving from one case to another. Unlike in GJ where law comes into play though, the issues were easily resolved and there was a lack of law enforcement involving the cases. LA also seems a bit different in here because he's usually convincing Sze Fu and the others to settle the cases in a more "peaceful" way...therefore does not involve a lot of court work. I understand that though, because the cases are rather small....and that's the problem. Law still comes into play, but not as much because of it. Overall, I'd say this series felt more like a social workers series rather than a law series.

- In the end, GJ2 failed to give the audience a "message" or something to remember about, when GJ did. So would I recommend GJ2? I would if you want something for entertainment because the characters can easily make you smile and laugh :) But if you're looking for a strong law series...this is not exactly what you want.

Let's start talking:

- First of all, let me ask where did Elena Kong disappear to? After her case, she kind of evaporated? I wouldn't find that abnormal if she was just an ordinary character for a sub-story but she wasn't....was she? Sure, she got her own sub-story but she's also a lawyer. I had expected more of her later in court but sadly she was no where to be found later on. Such a pity because I thought she was the most interesting lawyer to watch.

- A praise I'd like to give to the producers/scriptwriters is how they effectively connected GJ to GJ2. Let's be honest, I was totally impress watching the first few episodes because I felt that they did great, linking it to GJ!! Unlike other sequels, I could feel GJ in GJ2 and it seems like a continual where nothing was cut. Of course it helped a lot with the majority of the casts staying, including the mini supporting characters. Even with the new characters, I loved how they were introduced into the original GJ family (JJ Jia, Raymond Cho and Crystal Li). A smooth transition :)

- Love triangle between Law Ba (Kevin Cheng), Sze Fu (Myolie Wu) and Lynnette (Christine Kuo). What was the point of this triangle? I thought there were going to be cat fights, drama and tears but in the end...nothing. A disappointment? Not really because I hate love triangle's drama. Thank goodness Law Ba was decisive and knew who he loves. Unless written well, I hate it when characters can't choose who they love because it gets irritating. I'd also like to thanks Sze Fu , for not get overly suspicious and stuff but instead trusted Law Ba (in the beginning anyways....near the end, I supported her for not believing Law Ba though, because he was...). A third thanks is that they didn't make Lynnette super clingy. Why? Because they made Christine's character terribly clingy in Tiger Cubs!!! (Still can't get over that....)

There is one complaint I'd like to address to Law Ba though. I can see that he's a friendly guy but omg....keep your distance AWAY from Lynette when you don't like her! Seriously! This is why she can't get over you! I know he told Lynette straight out that he only likes Sze Fu but his actions (eating Lynette's left overs etc) are.....confusing. Not only is he doing himself no good, he's also doing Lynnette no good. =.=

Another complaint! Why didn't Law Ba and Lynnette get a divorce? I don't get it....were they planning to keep the "married" status forever? Law Ba, you should know the law better than that....it's polygamy if you ever plan to marry Sze Fu later on. Wait, is it still consider polygamy....since he married Lynnette in the Canada? So marrying Sze Fu in HK....would be technically legal? o.O I don't even know....

*sigh* Now that I've done talking about that, what is my overall thoughts on this love triangle? Pointless.

-I really liked that case about the pregnant lady. I thought that was pretty interesting and the actress did surprisingly well in some of her emotional scenes. Anybody know her name?

- The case where the lady was trialed for cheating the government's money. That case was rather little but I just want to complain about the outcome. It's stupid that she was charged guilty =.=

- The last case. I felt a sense of deja vu and I think everybody felt that too? In GJ, LA took the conviction for Sze Fu and now in GJ2, Sze Fu was a step ahead of LA and took the conviction for him. In the end though, LA still admitted his guilt in court and stuff....and had to go to trial for murder. I personally don't get why it's self-defense. Even though he did not intend to kill, he still should be held liable in some sort of way shouldn't he? Not charge with murder but something else? But the series never showed any of that later....

I would also like to add...this case had so much potential. A building collapsing? That's an exciting case! In the end though, it was disappointing because it was rather rushed.....and poorly written.

- Oh...one scene where Law Ba and Sze Fu were forcing the pregnant lady's boyfriend to serve as their witness (or something along that line). Were they allowed to do that!? I understand that Law Ba usually uses some tricks to get their info but what they did then....I felt it was over the line since it seems like they were threatening the guy o.O

- Nail (Sam Lee) and Sum Sum (JJ Jia). Surprisingly, I loved them together. Especially since they both have lost their loved ones, they got a sense of understanding and connection with each other. While Nail is unwilling to let go of the deceased Ching Ching (Sharon Chan), Sum Sum is someone who knew she had to move on. This is why I like Sum Sum. She's practical but kind-hearted and knows that they cannot dwell on the past forever. Instead of trying to stay in the past, she strives forward for a better future...because she knows that her deceased love would want her to do that. Moving on doesn't mean you have to forget, and that is what she taught Nail. I liked how they stood by each other's side, especially when Nail's mom died. Without her, I don't think Nail could have moved on again.

- LA (Kevin Cheng) and Sze Fu (Myolie Wu). Once again they sparked wonderful chemistry together! I love watching their small interactions with each other, such as LA rubbing his head on Sze Fu's shoulder. They're such a fun couple to watch :) Not to mention they showed a great amount of understanding with each other throughout the series.

Kevin Cheng as LA? There's something different with LA this time...Even though LA is still a fun character to watch, I thought he's a bit too "loose" in here. I felt this LA missed the sense of "fire", that strong sense of justice that the previous LA had. Maybe it's because he's a bit too laid back in this one? I don't know. I just know that there's a missing spark or should I say, it's just not as strong....

Myolie as Sze Fu? Myolie once again brings the independent and tough character back onscreen! Like what I said before, I'm glad that Sze Fu did not go through a dramatic breakdown or something with LA but instead, dealt with the problem in a cool-headed matter. This makes me like Sze Fu even better than before :) After finishing the series, I also felt that her performance was better than in GJ, especially her emotional scenes.

- Christine Kuo as Lynnette. What can I say? Please put her in smaller roles? I personally don't find her accents terrible...because I don't understand canto hehe :P The main problem I have with her lies within the expressions etc. She doesn't have much expression on her face and when she says her lines, I can't exactly feel anything in them. Basically, I find Christine's acting rather wooden. I think her recent roles are too big for her to handle. It's better if she starts of with littler and light-hearted roles, which will be easier for her to portray. And since I can't tell tvb to stop promoting her, I wish her the best and hope that she will improve later on.

- Jazz Lam as MJ, Sam Lee as Nail and Raymond Cho as Gaudy. I don't think I have to talk much about them since I can easily describe them in one word: awesome. I love their friendship with Law Ba. Just like in GJ, they also made me smile every time they were together.

- Crystal Li as Grace. You can tell she's a bit stiff but I don't think she's bad for a newbie :) Not much comment on Grace though...Just her "love" triangle with MJ and Gaudy, she described near the end that MJ is a good man and Gaudy is a good "friend". Even though she took both of their arms....I'm still going to assume that she chose MJ and that Gaudy had been "friend-zoned" :P

The King Maker Thoughts 2

I've finished up to episode 4 and so many things have happened.  Just he beginning is so long that it's hard to consume at the moment.  I'm anxious to watch the next episodes though because I'm curious how Wayne's and Pierre's life is going to be like at camp and Jin.  I also want to know more about Kent's character...can't seem to figure him out!  Also looking forward to more of Fred Cheng's character....hopefully he's a good guy :)  Also crossing my fingers in hope that Eric Li's character will only be impulsive, not "bad".

So the series start with the disputes between Yu Ching (Wayne Lai) and Tung Chiu (Kent Tong).  Then it rewinded back to 12 years ago, when everything started.  So Yu Ching and his siblings were seeing their father for the last time before he get exile.  We also found out that it is Tung Chiu who framed his father, resulting in the tragedy for the Yu family.

Before this event though, the Tung and the Chiu family were very close.  Tung Chiu was a student of Yu Ching's father and Tung Yuk Kiu (Elaine Yiu), the daughter of Tung Chiu was betrothed to Yu Ching.  They loved each other deeply but Yu Ching was unable to accept the fact that her father betrayed his father, therefor broke off the betrothal.  He even began to work for the despicable magistrate, Yueng Chi San (Lee Kwok Lun), in order to avenge his father.

Chi San is the "tutor" for Prince Woh (Chris Lai) and Tung Chiu is the mentor for Prince Sing (Pierre Ngo).  Now you can see why they are against each other.  To further explain the relationships, Wai Fei (Florence Kwok) is Prince Woh's mother and she's also Chi San's sister.  Empress Gongshu (Kingdom Yuen) is Prince Sing's mother, who is the elder prince.  Usually the throne would go to the elder prince, but in here, neither is named the crown prince (official successor of the throne) yet.  Seems like the emperor favours Prince Woh more though.

Florence looks so pretty in her costume!  Like usual though, she plays an evil character.  As for Kingdom Yuen, happy to see her back!  But wow...that is alot of makeup on her face o.O  Must be tiring to put in on every day at work.  Anyways, her character is rather...interesting.  You can say that she's kind, but at the same time...she' not to be underestimated.  She doesn't easily show her emotions...hard to predict.

What are the two princes like?  Well, let's say Chris Lai plays the unlikable one while Pierre is actually likable!  I was so afraid that Pierre would get the "baddie" role but thank goodness that's not how it is!  Prince Woh is rather immature and often acts in a rushed matter.  On the other hand, Prince Sing is kind and cares alot for the people.  When the fire cauldron burst, he did not think of his own safety but instead rushed into the fire to save the people.  Prince Sing's bravery and kindness made Yu Ching rethink his own actions (helping the wicked etc).

After the serious fire explosion (Prince Woh and Chi San was in charge of the project), Chi San told Yu Ching to frame Prince Sing and Tung Chiu for causing it.  Yu Ching was in conflict since Chi San had held his siblings captive.  In the end, Yu Ching chose to expose Chi San and Prince Woh instead.  After that, Tung Chiu suggested Yu Ching to the emperor to help Prince Sing with the iron project (the one Prince Woh and Chi San failed to accomplish).  He also pleaded for Yu Ching's father to return from exile.

Wasn't Tung Chiu evil?  Turns out he's not!  Yu Ching's father's exile was actually planned by Yu Ching's father, himself!  Why?  Yu Ching's father was originally the emperor's mentor.  This original title made him feel high and mighty and so after a slip of a tongue, he angered the emperor.  He then found out that the emperor wanted to get rid of him because of that and so told his loyal student, Tung Chiu to frame him...in order to get a lenient sentence.  So after all this, Yu Ching finally found out the truth about Tung Chiu's help.

Through Wai Fei's setup, Prince Sing was sent to negotiate a peace treaty with the Jins (whom have been suppressing the Songs for generations).  This is a dangerous mission but Yu Ching and Tung Chiu were sent to go with the Prince too.  At first everything was kinda sketchy since the Jins were really trying to create trouble.  They served the guests lamb which the Songs were to never eat.  Why?  Back then the Jins humuliated the Songs by asking their ancestors to act like lambs for their entertainment.  After Yu Ching's big speech and Tung Chiu's bigger speech, the two parties finally calmed down.  (The Jin's second Prince (King Kong) is abit unsettling though.)  The peace treaty was on it's way when both the Jin Prince (Tsui Wing) and Prince Sing were ambushed.  Luckily Prince Sing was fine but the Jin Prince was killed.

Of course the accident caused disputes between the two nations.  Jin's 2nd Prince then imprisoned Prince Sing.  So yah...this was a plan all along.  Wai fei allied up with the 2nd Prince to get rid of Prince Sing and to his advantage, he also got rid of his elder brother who was the crown prince.  Now it's Yu Ching's and tung Chiu's turn to get into trouble because of the failed mission.  Yu Ching ended up taking all the blame because he wanted Tung Chiu to stay and fight Chi San.  In the end Yu Ching was sentence to exile while Tung Chiu was taken away from his post.

Yu Ching's father was right after all.  He told Yu Ching to never go into court but he didn't listen.  And not his son is getting exile, just like he did.  It's actually so sad because he just came back from exile, but now his son is getting exiled.  *sigh*  Yu Ching's dad couldn't take it and died too.

Even though he is not exiled, Tung Chiu still have his issues because Chi San is eager to get rid of him.  What I did not mention before though is his lust over Yuk Kiu.  Seems like he really wants her and of course Tung Chiu is against that.  In order to get what he wants though, Chi San framed Yuk Kiu's brother of something and got him imprisoned.  He then implied to both the father and the daughter that he can help them...if only they were "family".  Helpless, Yuk Kiu decided to tell her father to let her marry Chi San because she knows that he will not stop until he gets her.

On the day that Yu Ching got exiled is also the day that Yuk Kiu got married.  I felt so bad for her!!!  Omg...Yu Ching didn't even know since neither her or her father wanted him to be upset!  Why does Elaine have to get these tragic roles?  To be honest, I'd rather if her character died of than marrying the rascal.  Oh!

Did I mention Eric Li is her younger brother?  I don't know if his role is good or bad yet, but knows that he's not on good terms with his father, Tung Chiu.  He thought his father sent him off because he didn't want to his success.  What he doesn't know though, is that Tung Chiu sent him away in order to protect him.  Omg..he was so ignorant when he came back and was even full of praises for Chi San, who he thought "rescued" him.  If I wasn't so distracted by his outfit (worn by Moses Chan in Can't Buy Me Love), I'd give him a few slaps. Please let Eric play a good guy though....please.  I love this actor way to much...don't break my heart Q.Q

Yu Ching arrived at his exiled camp!  I seriously wonder how he's going to come back.  As for the camp itself, full of corruption.  I'm curious though, why didn't the officers just take his money?  Yu Ching was told to bribe the magistrate in order to be excused from the hitting, but he refused.  Some gold then dropped out from his body, which showed that he got money.  When the officers was reaching for it though, Yu Ching told him and the magistrate that if they were to keep the gold, it's be stealing...blah blah.  What I don't get  why the magistrate was afraid of what he said?  Sure it's against the law and stuff to keep the gold, but seriously, who's going to "file a complaint" about it....seeing the camp is surrounded by water...the magistrate is in FULL power.  Why were they afraid of Yu Ching's words?  I don't get it...hope you guys got what I was saying though...

Guess who's Yu Ching's camp mate?  Haha the character played by Fred Cheng!  Totally an underrated character...who immediately caught my eyes.  I'm very curious to see more of his character...hehe  He's acting so mischievous ;)

Worse than being exiled?  Staying at Jin as a prisoner.  Humuliated by the Jins like his ancestors did, I wonder what's going to happen to Prince Sing.  Throughout his torture though, he kept in mind of what Tung Chiu taught him.  Along the lines of, "Before god entrusts a man with a task, he'll first have to endure many hardships (mentally and physically) in order to strengthen himself."  I loved how this scene was put in.  It showed that Prince Sing is no ordinary man and his determination to overcome these obstacles that are put upon him!  Can't wait to see more of him!

I don't get Tung Chiu.  This man is so...unpredictable.  After Yu Ching's exile, Wai Fei summoned Tung Chiu and asked him to help Prince Woh instead.  She even asked him to impersonate Prince Sing to write a letter to the emperor, asking him to replace him with Prince Woh as the crown prince.  And Tung Chiu did.  Empress GongShu had suspicions though and in the end, proved that the letter was fake.  When I thought that Tung chiu was going to exposed Wai Fei and Prince Woh, he ended up taking the whole blame by saying that it was what Prince Sing told him back in Jin!  I seriously wonder what Tung Chiu is thinking....I just can't get him figured out.

MHK Finale Guests - Fashion

I have no comment on MHK because I did not watch the show :)  Just have some things to share on what the guests wore!  If you want to read about the MHK results though, visit here: http://www.jaynestars.com/news/2012-miss-hong-kong-breaking-news/

Christine looks very pretty in the dress!  The hot pink really suits her and I love the way the ruffles were designed.  The dress is actually similar to the one that Linda wore for TVB Anniversary in 2010, except with the difference of the strap.  I thought Christine could of have a necklace though since her neck seems a bit "empty".

Wayne looks nice but his vest seems to tight, making the rest of the suit a bit poofy.

Aimee loves these style of dresses doesn't she!?!  The kind that have two strap...and the rest of the dress would just flow down with not much "structure" to it, making the dress look kinda loose.  I really want to see  Aimee in a different style.

Am I the only one who thinks that Jason looks average?  He's somewhat good looking but don't really find him attractive ^-^;;;  Anyways, he looks nice in the suit!

Aw!  I was so happy to see Marianne as one of the guests!  Even though the dress is simple, she still looks gorgeous in it and I actually really like it!  The purple and gray combo looks really well matched and I like the way she styled her hair :)

A pink suit!  I never thought I'd see a pink suit!  Haha even though it's not really my cup of tea, I think Ben still rocked it! :D  As for Shirley, she's pretty but the dress isn't anything special.  I like the shade of purple though!

I don't think the dress really suited Koni nor did justice to her body figure.  Another dress choice would of been better as the dress looks so casual.  It would've been better if the ruffles at the waist would start of small, but as it goes down the dress, the ruffles would become bigger....creating a nice flow/layer to the dress.

Mandy's dress is rather simple but I think it's the best dress she've chosen (from what I've seen before)!!  She looks good in it :)

I think Samantha's dress is cute because of the sweet mix of purple and pink, along with how the "scales" (?) were designed on the dress.  The only problem with it is the amount of cleavage :P  Personally don't like that.

I think Myolie is pretty well known for her bold fashion style (such as wearing a tuxedo etc).  Most of the time it's works but this is probably one of those times that it doesn't.  The amount of feathers on her dressed automatically reminded me of an ostrich o.O

Haha polka dots pants :P  That's the first think I noticed!  I don't even know what to say....

Sharon loves showing her legs!  Sometimes just abit too much though...the dress is so short!!!!  Omg  Q.Q  Anyways, I usually like her choices but is not in favour with this one.  There is limited style to the dress...not much to it.  Is it weird that it reminds me of a night gown?  I think it's because of the material used.  I like the colour choice though, she really stands out in the red.

Ruco Chan!  You look absolutely awesome like you always do BUT....didn't you wear that for the Starhub awards already?  Beside the belt, glasses and bow tie...it's the same suit!  I think he really like this suit.  Anyways, I like the glasses he wore at the Starhub awards better.

OH!  Maybe it's the style...since I've notice quite a few number of guys wearing their shoes without socks.  Some even fold up their pants *cough*RON*cough*.  I just don't like either of those ideas haha.
