GUESS WHO THEY ARE?

Lately....I've been lost in my childhood memories!

Jiang Shi are what we call chinese "hopping" vampires. Haha so no...not the modern vampires that we often see on tv today. Unlike modern vampires, they are corpses that have no mind. Back when I was young, there were alot (at least that was what I thought) of these series around...but there are rarely any being filmed today. Same things go to wuxia and mythical series (tvb wise). I am going to be doing the same post format for mythical series later.....Also a post involving "modern" vampires :)

This post does not only contain series from tvb though....because apparently the series I watched were mostly atv before o.O Just found out about it now....something nice about atv series (and others) are that....they ARE AVAILABLE ON YOUTUBE!!! (at least in viet anyways) Haha you can never find tvb series on youtube....but thank goodness the much older series of atv and stuff are all on there!! lols was so happy....cause I can re-watch all of them on there now!!! :D

To be honest, I was excited to hear the return of LA....but did not expect much for the sequel itself. hmm...i believe I just got slap in the face with this trailer though :P because IT LOOKS EPIC!!!!!!!!!! Looks even more exciting than the first! haha x)

Like how the trailer started out with all the action (serves as the "hook") with the comedic scenes after, then the love stories (I like the background music) and wrapping up the trailer with the purpose/meaning of the story (giving of a warm fuzzy feeling) :)

Best of all, the majority of the cast remains the same!!! *happiness*

POKEMON

Ok..I LOVE pokemon! Beside tvb, Pokemon also dominated a big part of my childhood :) So now...I have a team of 6 pokemon (in my head). You just have to guess one of them right :) If the pokemon you guessed is one of the ones I chose to be on my team, you'll get a point! (You cannot guess Pikachu or Mew because I decided to not include them...would be too easy.)

Omg! I am so excited for this!!! Loving the cast (with some exceptions though)! I'm definitely looking forward to Wayne and Michelle...and the two lovely ladies, Nancy Wu and Selena Li! And alala...Oscar Leung :)

Hmm...I would not mind much if Natalie was playing a concubine...but an empress? I'm not so sure about that since she doesn't really suit the look :/ But I guess it depends on the nature of her character...if it doesn't require her yelling, I would be good :)

Three Kingdoms RPG

After seeing Kenneth Ma's serious character in Hippocratic Crush...it is kinda weird seeing him as a gamer in here :P I still think that Ron fits the image more though....but I'm still looking forward to this new side of Kenneth! Also...reunite of Kenneth and Tavia!! Haha...

Still upset that they chose Kaki Leung to pair with Raymond though...she's not fitting for mature roles (ie. Relic of and Emissary). Still feel she's at the same level-ish as the newbies (ie the ones in HC)....and shouldn't take on such big roles so soon :/

I'm guessing most of you guys already know who Jin Yong is right? :) He is famous for his wuxia novels (The Heaven Sword and the Dragon Saber, The Legend of the Condor Heroes etc.) So anyways, I was just surfing around on youtube and came across this video! Haha it consists the 90s adaptations that tvb made based on Jin Yong's novel. Don't you just miss these kind of series so much?? Q.Q (I do believe that some are missing from the video though...after looking at wikipedia xD)

I have not watch all of them though because if I watched the 80s version, I won't watch the 90s version....and vice versa. The ones I have watched from the 90s includes: The Condor Heroes 95, The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber 2000, Crimson Sabre, The Flying Fox of Snowy Mountain 1999) As for the 80's, I've watched The Legend of the Condor Heroes (1983) and The Duke of Mount Deer (1984)...I think that's it.

Oh! Random note...Wong Yung (Barbara Yung) in LCH, I was very impress with her impersonation of a guy. Since watching tvb....that's the only convincing girl dressing up as a guy -.- Putting on a hat, braiding your hair back and putting on men's clothes doesn't make you look like a man. Take Charmaine Sheh's character in Word Twister's Adventure or Fala Chen in Ghost Writer as an example. What is the difference...? Though I know it's been like this all the time...I still can't get use to it even till now .__.

Speaking of a girl pretending to be a man, Joyce Koi definitely comes into the picture! To be honest, I've mainly watched her playing as a guy...and found it awkward when she dressed in girl's clothing at the end of Better Halves o.O

BACK on the Subject!! My favourite series out of the bunch ought to be The Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre 2000 because it's the first wuxia series I've ever watched....even though it's the latest one made. I only watched the others when I got older....while HSDS is my childhood series :) (I wrote a post on one of my favs. pairings in there.)

As for my favourite themesong, it goes to The Condor Heroes 1995! Though I don't know the what the lyrics mean...it just sounds so sad for some reason! (a post I wrote on this series.)

Kenneth Ma has always gone the ability route. Compared to other siu sangs in the same generation, his pace is indeed slower. Acting for 13 years, finally the first male lead 'Yat Kin Tau' in "The Hippocratic Crush", the series receiving good reviews and drawing a large audience, and Kenneth's acting has also received praise. Is this a late spring? "Absolutely not. When filming 'Born Rich', Lo Ka (Gallen Lo) previously said that it takes 10 years to come out with a siu sang. I don't think that my pace is slow; it's just that my road is longer because, in this industry, apart from ability, luck is also a major factor. For example, Wayne Lai. His acting has always been good. I already greatly admired him in the '90s, but had to encounter 'Chai Gau' before gaining great popularity".

When talking about [his] career, Kenneth went on and on, but when asked about [his] love life...reconciled with Nancy Wu? He immediately became awkward, saying that there was nothing to report: "Nancy and I are in the friendship stage...enjoying the current single life. Still make money above all else!"

WHO IS THIS?

That's what this picture makes me thing of :)

This year's series are not as bad as I had expected :) From top to bottom, ranks my favourite series to least..so far.

The Hippocratic Crush - I just finished it!!! Omg, this series kept me chasing one episode after another (same goes to Bottled Passion)! I also can't believe how much I cried while watching this...which also happened when I watch Bottled Passion. I love both series very much but HC is ranked higher because I thought the pacing was a bit faster, while BP started of with a slower pace. Another reason would be the endings....

Anyways, HC is arguably the best series so far for 2012. The casts all did a wonderful job, and the story was neither draggy or had a bad ending. Some tvb series start of great....but it tend to fall apart near the end...quite upsetting. Luckily that did not happen to HC though :)

Bottled Passion - Even though it was aired back in 2011 (December)....I'm still going to count it into 2012. Anyways, first series that aired after the tvb 2011 awards...in quite a bad time slot, but exceeded many expectations, including mine! Hands down this is way better than the two anniversary series tvb aired :P

One sad thing I'd like to mention though....I still have not watch it's last episode! After reading some spoilers, I didn't have the heart to watch the last episode Q.Q It would crush me seeing Tung Pun-Sin's and Tsu Sum's separation.....

When Heaven Burns - I was quite hesitant to either place WHB before WAS or not :/ But decided to put it before, even though I did not watch the whole thing. I personally think it takes quite a bit of patience to watch this series (not to mention it also had 30eps!), which I did not have. With the scenes I caught though, the series is very nice...and gave of a different feeling from other tvb series. The whole story isn't driven by anticipation/excitement (not much action/drama etc)....but is very settle...slowly revealing the character thoughts and feelings. The characters does not "speak out loud" much of their feelings either...and that requires the audience to figure it out for themselves.

There are also alot of switch back and forth of the present and the past (not the usual black tint version though), which can cause some confusions (I remember I was so confuse at one part...had to replay it over 2 times to get it ^^;;). So yah, that's the overall thought/feeling WHB gave me when I watched it.

Overall thumbs up filming angles/music etc of the series. Though the slow pace was not considerably desirable along with the frequent changes between the past and present, I appreciate the underlying message...which probably differentiate for everyone? :) Something new from tvb...and the ending was beautifully done.

Wish and Switch - This is one of those series that have a good beginning....but crashes near the last five episodes. Overall, entertaining to start...but was way too rushed (messed up) later on :( I love Selena Li in here though! Really enjoyed her story with Vincent, which could have used a little bit more screen time. It did get annoying towards the middle parts.....I'll write a review on this series later :)

Let it Be Love - Eh? I started the series but never finished it....cause I felt it was quite draggy/repetitive. Beside that though, I liked all the stories of the couples. Especially the story of the tall girl and short guy because I really love how they first met in their wheel chairs. Meeting then, they had no differences. Sadly after they recovered and no longer needed the wheelchairs, the obvious issue arise when they saw each others height. Though I might not have finish this series, it is not bad but enjoyable at times because I can find a connection between me and the stories.

L'Escargot - ouch! I couldn't go on any further after Linda and Ron broke up because I could not handle the drama. Not to mention it aired during my exams time...when I needed a comedy to relax myself :) So therefor watched Wish and Switch instead :P And another thing, it has 30 episodes...and for most series that are that long, I tend to skip them ^^;;;


Queens of Diamonds and Hearts - I guess it's enjoyable so far? I just personally dislike comedic ancient dramas because it tend to exaggerate. Beside that, I view the folk tale of Wu Yen as a more meaningful story that requires a more in-depth...storyline. Hmm..I guess that's why I like Marianne Chan's Love is Beautiful.

-I don't know if you guys ever noticed...but I lack a sense of humour. So as much as I love reading satires from other blogs, I can never write my own xD Haha the closest I ever got to were comics: Charvin, TaRo, Cool Guys etc. And they're not even that funny!

-Guessing the Series is a simple game that I started of, hoping to give the readers something fun to do. So every week or so, there will be a post with clues in which the reader had to guess what series I was talking about. We did quite a number of this game until I decided to switch the name to Guessing Game.

Guessing Game just didn't involve guessing series name, but also involved guessing who are the missing artistes in the picture, guessing the themesong, along with many random bonuses that did not involve tvb (ie. writing a mini story outline of your own couple for Valentines Day, guessing my favourite flower, guessing my favourite character in diff. series, simply voting on a poll). The bonuses are suppose to be hard because they are not easy points. On the other hand, even though it's tough, I see that the bonuses rounds are liked best by many :)
