2012 tvb awards random thoughts

Best Series
The Hippocratic Crush hands down! BUT...it does have some fierce competition in these upcoming months :)

Best Actor
So far, my vote goes to Raymond Wong, who delivered a solid performance in Bottled Passion! I also have high expectation for Damian Lau in Silver Spoon Sterling Shackles too ;) Michael Mui will also get my attention since I loved him in Gun Metal Grey!

Base on popularity though, I think Kenneth Ma stands a high chance with this award since The Hippocratic Crush was quite successful. I personally think that Kenneth can wait a year or so though. I'm a big fan of his, but still think that there are times when his acting can be unstable...so a year or more will give him a good polish :)

Best Actress
As far as the series that have been released this year, I haven't got a "Best Actress" in mind yet. For the upcoming releases though, I'm definitely keeping my eyes out for Michelle Yim in The Confidant. Another catchy role includes Tavia Yeung's in Silver Spoon Sterling Shackles...who seems to have a very high chance of winning the award this year.

Best Supporting Actor
I've already talked about this. My support goes to Lee Sing Cheung, Koo Ming Wah, Ram Tseung and Oscar Leung.  All are worthy of the award.

Best Supporting Actress
My mind immediately came to Nancy Wu and Elena Kong, despite the fact that I have not seen them much this year :P

Most Improved Actor
My support goes to Jazz Lam, Oscar Leung, Edwin Siu and Him Law. I also like Matt Yeung...haha

Most Improved Actress
Gotta give it to Mandy Wong :)

My Favourite Male Character
Omg...so hard! How am I suppose to choose here? Q.Q

My Favourite Female Character
Unlike the male characters, barely any female characters made it to my "fav" list so far this year. I think the one I like best so far though is Ji Lam (Linda Chung) in Witness Insecurity :)

For the ones that I just listed a bunch of names...it's because I just couldn't choose T-T

So what are you opinions so far?:)

Random Thoughts :D

EDIT:  REMEMBER TO VOTE ON THE POLLS EVERYBODY!!!!!!  IT's GOING TO END IN A FEW DAYS!!!!  SO HURRY AND CAST YOUR VOTES IF YOU HAVE NOT YET :D  thank you ^-^

Hmm...instead of doing my essay that's due in two days, I'm randomly surfing on youtube :P The temptation!!! Urgh!

Anyways, was just looking around when I came by these two clips of tvb's 42 anniversary. It's actually the first anniversary of tvb that I had watched! I remember these two parts were my favourite...oh the memories :D I remember posting about this....but can't find it :P lols I don't know if it's noticeable to anyone, but I do a horrible job labeling my posts!!

This segment is absolutely my favourite :)  It's neat how they have the young artistes and the elder ones together!  And the choice for the last song was perfect, ties in the sign of unity among the artistes :D

Aw...Steven and Charmaine Q.Q How I miss you guys already! I basically grew up watching Charmaine, so now her screen absence is making me very sad. As for Steven, beside being a great actor, I also think he's got a great personality too :) Seeing his smile in here....so much charm x)  Miss him so much....Now that he's in Mainland, there aren't much news to see how he is going...but if you do want to, check http://stevenma-fanblog.blogspot.ca/. I always visit there from time to time to get updates on Steven!

Oh and there's Kenneth Ma, who's now in the leading status!  I can't get over how cute he is in here!  Haha he's very passionate :P  His expressions are priceless!

Kiki's singing is sooooo nice!

I also love this segment alot.....Missing Bernice even more now, loved her parts!  I also like the song choices for the dances....hehe the themesong for War and Genders!!!!  And the one for Old Time Buddies x)

Unlike the first time I watched it, I actually "know" the younger artistes featured in here!  For example, Janet Chow and OMG  Christine Kuo!!!!  Never noticed her before.

The King Makers - Lee Sing Cheung

Lee Sing Cheung is a dependable supporting actor, who've been in tvb for years!  If you've noticed, he've been in so many series this year?  Almost all!  To be honest, I don't really like that because it can get tiring seeing him in one after another.  But overall, I still enjoy watching him onscreen because he's a great actor!

In The King Makers, I initially thought that Lee Sing Cheung landed himself in another villain role (trouble maker, sly etc) because he was always against Kristal Tin in the beginning.  Turns out, his character was a little more than that.  So now, let's talk more of the characters.

Shek Sau is the leader of the Water Way Gang and Lee Sing Cheung is second in lead.  Kristal Tin is well respected by the gang members, since the Water Way Gang is originally her father, who died along with her husband.  Lee Sing Cheung and Kristal often comes to disputes, but he never crosses any lines because he felt indebt to her husband....who died in order to protect him.  As for Kristal's relationship with Shek Sau, she really trusts him, as her father told her that he's a very trustable man.....therefor the gang was handed over to him to lead.

Now back to Lee Sing Cheung.  Like I said before, he seems dispicable at first because he's always backing up his brothers (of their wrong doings) and often had arguments with Kristal.  What we did not find out until later though....is his loyalty to the gang.  He often disputed with Shek Sau and Kristal, not because he was a trouble maker, but rather because he did not trust Shek Sau.  Back then when Kristal's dad and husband died...he've found Shek Sau suspicious but never found the evidence to prove his guiltiness.  Lee sing Cheung have just been waiting all these years to seek revenge for Kristal's dad and husband....  And as the series unveils, we get to know that Shek Sau truly planned Kristal's dad's and husband's death!!

Now the epic part happens in episode 20!  After Shek Sau's evil doings were uncovered, of course he was no longer the leader of the gang.  A gang can't be leaderless and this is when Lee Sing Cheung stepped up.  He told them that they have to select a new leader and according to the rules, the second in demand would be the one to take over the position.  He told them, considering merits, position or seniority, he's the one eligible to become the leader.  This is when I scratched my head and wondered....he really wanted the position afterall?  All my thoughts about him being loyal etc...kinda sunk.  To be honest, I was kinda upset.  Anyways, he then came over to Kristal and told her that he only admires 3 people in his life.  First of all, he said even though Shek Sau was the chief before, he have never respected him and since Shek Sau sided with her all the time, she too did not won his respect.  This is the moment where I did a palmed my face....can he get any worse than this?  Even though he showed loyalty at first...he's taking the advantage to ascend the "throne"?  =.+

What happens next?  I thought he was just going to take the position but in the end, he praised Kristal for saving the gang and told everybody, no matter how capable he is, he's still unable to compete with her and swore her loyalty.  And when Kristal refused, he told her that if she doesn't say yes, the gang will dissolve.  He won my respect in that single scene.  He's such a loyal character.  On the contrary, the scene did lack some power....the lines could've been written better and the execution to be done a bit better too (I think it's missing an emotional connection between Kristal and Lee Sing Cheung, to showcase their respect and appreciation towards each other...therefor making the scene a bit bland and not that heart-felt), but overall...it's still good.

Beside acknowledging Lee Sing Cheung's character, I also wrote this post because the scene really reminded me of Wayne's scene with Steven in Safe Guards :)

An extra note, if you've been watching Divas in Distress, you would also love Lee Sing Cheung in there!  He's got such a cute and caring role ;)  A nice change from all the recent seriousness he've been at! haha

[News] TVB Calendar Reborn in 2013 - Linda Chung & Bosco Wong heavily promoted to take the lead

(January 2009 Calendar)

Since 1998, TVB was shooting their official calendars annually, but in 2010 it was put on hiatus because Mona Fong was being "stingy". It has already been two years since TVB stopped making a calendar, but this year, new boss Chan Kwok Keung revives the TVB Calendar for 2013. Last week, heavily promoted FaDans and Siu Sangs were all appointed to begin the photo shoot. In January there will be hot on-screen couple Bosco Wong and Linda Chung from Witness Insecurity, along with Raymond Lam, Kate Tsui and Aimee Chan. It was understood, the five of them will be dress up glamorously to match the New Year's party atmosphere. Bosco, Linda and Kate had the most fate as this is their third time together on the same month. In 2009, they were the stars on the month of January as well. This will also be Linda and Raymond's third year as January stars (2008, 2009 and 2013). In February, the month of Lunar New Years, there will be Michael Miu, Roger Kwok, Michael Tse, Tavia Yeung and Fala Chen. [Ron revealed, he already did the photo shoot with Him Law, Kenneth Ma, Vincent Wong, Edwin Siu, Jason Chan and Chris Lai. They will be on the month of April.] [Myolie will be on the calender with Moses Chan and Wayne Lai, not sure which month yet.]

Bosco Wong and Linda Chung were a popular couple in the series Witness Insecurity, and are arranged to take the lead to be on the first month of the year, January. Linda said: "Since my debut in the industry, I have to thank TVB for giving me so many opportunities. I don't think there is any one particular month that is emphasized more. In fact, each and every month is equally important. I'm already happy to be part of it. I never thought of which month I should be on." Following Raymond Lam, Linda and Bosco had recently became a popular on-screen couple, she happily said: "We aren't a couple in real life. For this pairing to be so well-received by audience is rare, I'm very lucky. I've collaborated with Raymond many times before, and now with Bosco, there is a refreshing feeling. I hope in the new year, there will be another chance for Bosco and I to be a couple again."

Bosco is also a heavily promoted artist by TVB, he modestly said: "I don't have this feeling, everyone is just as important. Of course I'm happy to be part of the calendar." As for being on the month of January with Linda, is it because of Witness Insecurity? He said: "I think so because there was such positive reactions before and audience liked the pairing. (Do you hope to collaborate with Linda again?) Good!"

Moving on to February, the Lunar New Year month, it is the month most important to Chinese people. TVB arranged Michael Miu, Roger, Michael Tse, Tavia and Fala to be the stars of this month. The background is going to filled with the red theme color. As TVB said the photo shoot is going to be low-key, when Micheal Tse saw reporters, he mischievously tried to cover his face. Reporters later contacted Michael Miu, who was dressed in a suit and bow tie. He joked and said its a disadvantage being on February: "There's only 28 days in February, two days less than all the other months. (TVB stopped making calendars two years ago?) I don't remember. It's a good thing with the new boss."

As for Roger, he joked: "It's been two years since there's been a TVB calender, I couldn't eat or sleep in the last two years! TVB calenders are very representative. Each year, the photos are very beautiful and taken seriously. Of course it's best to keep the tradition going! The happiest is there is another platform for artists to promote. Haha!"
