Highs and Lows - Kate Tsui in Episode 4

I've watched up to five episodes of Highs and Lows and is currently enjoying it alot :)  The cast is doing great so far, and I am personally loving Kate's character, Pat.

In episode 3, Pat (Kate Tsui) helped Happy Sir (Raymond Lam) to catch a drug seller (the guy in the picture above) to revenge her friend, who killed herself after getting high from his drugs.  The guy was then charged in court, but his sentence was reduced from nine years to only two years.  Why?  Because Happy Sir arranged him to help bust an even bigger drug dealer, which made the court give him a more lenience sentence.  Pat was enraged.  We then found out why....beside killing her friend, he also killed her mother back when she was a teen....even more shocking?  He's actually her dad!  I was blown by this...

They then showed flashbacks of her childhood and of how her dad killed her mom.  I felt so bad...and even cried along with Pat.  Her dad was a drug addict back then (he still is...) and when Pat and her brother and mother wanted to leave him, he forcibly made her mom take some drugs.  Pat witnessed the whole thing...but couldn't do anything to help her mom.  In the end, her mom decided to kill herself...but she didn't want to leave Pat and her younger behind, and so gave the children some sleeping drug so that they could all die together.  Pat luckily didn't drink it and ran out to ask to the police to help.  Unfortunately, her mom couldn't be save and her brother, got sick (mentally) by inhaling too much carbon dioxide.

With such a childhood, I now understand why Pat always warned her friend to stay away from drugs and never went near it, herself.  So now I'm interested in how she will become a drug addict...Pat is currently the most interesting character to watch right now, and Kate is doing well with the role too.  Kate have this image that I think, really suits Pat....she may not fit into the innocent roles but she's a killer in those "semi-good/bad roles".  As for her acting, I think there is a great improvement with her crying scenes.  I still remember kinda cringing at her crying scenes in Relic of an Emissary, but then it got better in Lives of Omission (the scene where she held onto her wedding dress...after Bosco died) and it's getting even better in here :)

Before watching the series, I shipped Ella and Raymond...but now, Kate and Raymond FTW :D

I agree so much with you when you say Kate can't be in those innocent good girl roles. There's something to her that will never give off that vibe. In any show she's in, I'm always looking for when and how she'll turn evil.
